The residents of the town of Kahlah and the family of the deceased Fadi Bjeani have called on friends and supporters to gather starting at 10 AM on Friday, 11/08/2023, at the Kahlah intersection to bid farewell to Fadi. Funeral and prayer services for his soul will take place at St. Anthony's Church at 4 PM.
The family, in a statement, requested all attendees to refrain from firing gunshots entirely, in order to preserve the solemnity of the occasion. They also asked security forces to redirect traffic away from the main road and allow only participants in the funeral to access the town.
In accordance with the family's wishes, the funeral procession will be public and without any formal protocols. The statement added: "The Kahlah intersection holds significant symbolism for the town's residents in particular and Lebanon in general; therefore, we wish for everyone—politicians and ordinary citizens alike—to exercise caution when expressing their opinions. From here, we request that all media outlets refrain from taking any statements during the funeral ceremonies."
The statement concluded: "The family of the martyr, while thanking all those who have shown solidarity with them, emphasizes that any statement regarding the events will only be issued by them."
