The head of the "Democratic Gathering" bloc, MP Taymour Jumblatt, reaffirmed the bloc's and the "Progressive Socialist Party's" position in calling for a consensus figure for the presidency who is not a party affiliate or a challenge to anyone, and who possesses a reformist and salvatory vision for the country. He noted that "this was previously raised by Walid Jumblatt and has been declared in all the communications and deliberations that took place both domestically and internationally."
In a statement, MP Jumblatt said: "Enough with the fantasies from some; our position is unified and we are looking forward to a moment of relief for the nation through a new era that does not favor the replication of crises and establishes its constitutional, executive, and administrative authorities." He emphasized that "the stage is very delicate and does not allow luxury of time but rather needs to mitigate the negative repercussions on the homeland and its people in light of the extremely important developments occurring in the region overall."
Recently, the head of the "Progressive Socialist Party," Walid Jumblatt, visited Paris and discussed the presidential issue with French officials.
