Israeli army radio reported on Thursday that Israeli ground forces carried out a relatively large incursion into the Gaza Strip overnight to attack Hamas positions. The operation was described as the largest executed so far during the war, which has now entered its third week. The Israeli army stated via its platform "X" (formerly Twitter) that infantry and tanks "struck numerous Hamas cells, infrastructure, and anti-tank missile launch sites" during the ground incursion.

The military noted that the forces exited Gaza after the incursion and returned to Israeli territory. Israel has called up about 360,000 reservists and has mobilized soldiers along the border with Gaza in anticipation of a potential ground offensive in response to attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7.
