As part of the efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat the promotion of counterfeit currency throughout various regions in Lebanon, information was obtained by the Information Branch regarding an unknown individual promoting counterfeit currency in the town of Arab Sallim. Following this, the specialized units within the branch were tasked to conduct field operations and inquiries to identify and arrest the suspect.
As a result of investigations and inquiries, the branch succeeded in identifying him as K. Q. (born in 1979, Syrian). On 18/08/2023, after careful surveillance, one of the branch patrols managed to apprehend him in the aforementioned town, confiscating six counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bills from his possession and home.
During the investigation, he confessed to the allegations regarding his role in promoting counterfeit currency in Arab Sallim, stating that he had obtained it from a fellow citizen while in Syria. Legal actions were taken against him, and he and the seized items were referred to the relevant authorities, as per the directions of the competent judiciary.
