UNRWA: Six Palestinians Killed in Shelling of UN-Run Shelter in Gaza

Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stated that "six displaced Palestinians were killed when a UN-run shelter was shelled yesterday, Monday, in Khan Younis, the focus of the Israeli ground assault in southern Gaza." Lazzarini further mentioned, "Staff, patients, and terrified displaced individuals are currently trapped inside the few remaining hospitals in Khan Younis as fierce fighting continues." He noted that at least six displaced persons were killed and others injured in the attack. He added, "I urge all parties to take all necessary precautions to minimize damage and protect civilians, medical facilities, and UN staff and buildings in accordance with international law."
