How the Scene Looks in Lebanon During the General Strike

A global strike campaign is being observed by a large number of institutions in various countries, in solidarity with Gaza and in rejection of the Israeli attacks, demanding a permanent ceasefire in the region to enable the delivery of humanitarian aid and to put an end to waves of Palestinian migration. Lebanon has announced its commitment to this strike, with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Minister of Education Abbas Halabi issuing two decisions announcing the closure of official and educational institutions in accordance with the decision.

Atmospheres of solidarity have prevailed in some Lebanese districts, where both official and private schools have closed their doors, markets, shops, and banks are also closed, and daily trade activities have come to a halt.

In Sidon, the Sidon and Surrounding Areas Traders Association announced the closure of all commercial markets in the city today, in compliance with the global campaign. The President of the Association, Ali Al-Sharif, toured the commercial market in the city center this morning, confirming the closure decision.

Similarly, Akkar Province fully committed to the strike in solidarity with the Palestinian people, closing all public administrations and government institutions in the Halba Serail and in all Akkar towns, as well as independent institutions, municipal unions, and municipalities. Banks, currency exchange shops, and several pharmacies also adhered to the strike.
