The head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, announced today, Thursday, that the Sudanese armed forces are determined to continue with resolve and will towards completing the political process in the country. This comes after the Forces of Freedom and Change, the main opposition coalition in Sudan, announced the postponement of the signing of the final agreement to resolve the political crisis, in order to finalize the security and military reform agreements. In a statement from the transitional sovereign council, Al-Burhan stated, "The postponement of the signing of the political agreement aims to establish solid frameworks to preserve the revolution, and all parties are now working to complete discussions on the remaining issues." In a speech commemorating the April uprising, Al-Burhan affirmed the commitment to proceed with determination and will towards completing the political process.
The spokesperson for "Freedom and Change," Yasser Arman, indicated that the military technical committees responsible for security and military reform have only one point left to resolve in leadership and control. "Tomorrow we will not sign the agreement, and the remnants will not be able to destroy the political process. The drafting committee of civilians and military has met, the document is secured, and the issues of the legislative and sovereign councils have been resolved; only one point remains for the military technical committees regarding leadership and control, and the public will be informed of the developments within hours."
