Sudani: Activating the Joint Water Council with the Netherlands

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani received an official invitation to visit the Netherlands today, Monday. A statement from the Prime Minister's media office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), mentioned that "Sudani received the Dutch ambassador to Iraq, Hans Sandee, and during the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them."

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized "Iraq's openness to all forms of partnership and joint work in various fields, particularly activating the joint water council between the two countries, in addition to the importance of the Netherlands taking the lead of the NATO mission in Iraq in mid-May."

According to the statement, the Prime Minister reiterated Iraq's vision concerning the international coalition's mission to combat ISIS in the upcoming phase, which should include joint technical work to end this mission and transition to levels of bilateral security and military cooperation.

For his part, the ambassador presented a formal invitation from the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to the Prime Minister to visit the Netherlands to explore further opportunities for partnership between the two countries. He highlighted the positive relations between the Netherlands and Iraq, as well as the interest of Dutch companies in working within Iraqi development programs and infrastructure reconstruction.
