The intensity of clashes is escalating day by day along Lebanon's southern border, and the targeting zone is expanding to reach the heart of Lebanon, particularly the city of Baalbek, as occurred a few days ago. These mutual bombing operations are accompanied by Israeli threats to Lebanon, the latest being from Professor Amitzia Baram, a prominent researcher in Middle Eastern affairs, who stated that "in the event of a full-scale war between the two sides, the party must be incapacitated by bombing civilian centers in Lebanon."
In her statement published in the Israeli newspaper "Ma'ariv," Baram said: "To tell the truth, we are the ones escalating, but we are doing so within the framework of the existing rules of war. For example, we have not yet attacked Beirut." Baram discussed a scenario in which Israel targets all bridges in Lebanon, as well as power stations, ports, and Beirut Airport, in order to render them inoperable. She remarked: "There will be no option but to cut off communication between Lebanon and Syria as much as possible. We must bomb every vehicle crossing the border from Lebanon to Syria, as there is a crucial route through which ammunition passes from Iraq to Syria and Lebanon."
