Verdict from Najaf Courts: Life Imprisonment for Drug Dealer

The Najaf Ashraf Criminal Court issued a life imprisonment sentence today, Sunday, against a drug dealer found in possession of 4,000 drug tablets. The Supreme Judicial Council announced in a statement that "the Najaf Ashraf Criminal Court issued a life imprisonment sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances." It clarified that "the convicted was caught with four thousand tablets of amphetamine narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and selling them among users." Furthermore, it stated that "the sentence was issued based on the provisions of Article 28/First of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017."
