The Chairman of the Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al Sheikh, has announced a heavyweight clash between British boxer Tyson Fury and Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk at the "Kingdom Arena" during the "Riyadh Season," which starts on October 20. Al Sheikh wrote on his account on "X": "Audience and visitors of Riyadh Season, an important and global news about a major event at Kingdom Arena will be announced shortly, and it will be a historic event for the first time. I hope you will interact with the event using the hashtag #Big_Time, and I am sure you will make it the number one trend in the world."
Fury wrote on Instagram, "You can’t run like a rabbit anymore Usyk, you’ve got what you wanted."
In a statement, Al Sheikh said: "This is the fight that everyone has wanted to see for a while, and it is finally happening, as the heavyweight champion enters the ring to face each other." He added: "It is the biggest boxing match that the world will watch, and we are very proud to host this event as part of the fourth edition of our Riyadh Season celebrations."
British Fury is the World Boxing Council champion, while Ukrainian Usyk holds the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organization, and International Boxing Organization titles. Discussions about the unified title fight, which has been very popular, were revived after falling apart months ago. The organizers stated that it would be sponsored by Queensberry Promotions, Top Rank, K2, and Usyk17 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
The last undisputed heavyweight boxing champion was British Lennox Lewis in 1999.
