A French diplomatic source said that France intends to summon the Russian ambassador today, Monday, following the killing of French aid workers after a Russian strike in Ukraine last week, and in light of what Paris describes as an escalation in the Russian smear campaign against it. Two French volunteers were killed and three others were injured in a Russian drone attack in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine on February 1, which Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné described as a "barbaric" act. The diplomatic source stated that "France will reiterate its condemnation of the Russian strikes" and that it "will condemn the escalation in the smear campaign targeting it."
