MP Fadi Karam, a member of the "Strong Republic" bloc, believes that the presidential file is not stagnant, as there are ongoing, varied, and intensive initiatives in this regard, the latest being the Qatari initiative. In a conversation with "Voice of Lebanon," Karam stated that it would have been better for domestic parties to adhere to the constitution and proceed naturally instead of waiting for external initiatives. He noted that the Qatari initiative is devoid of personal interests and aims to put an end to a crisis that has become exhausting for the entire region.
Karam asserted that the goal of the Qatari initiative is not to bring the army commander to the presidency, and that the Qataris are open to all possibilities. He pointed out that this initiative comes as a continuation of the French initiative, which collapsed when French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian deemed the previous candidates unviable.
Regarding the escalating displacement crisis, he emphasized that the government must convene as soon as possible and act seriously by agreeing on an immediate action plan that begins with effective steps, avoiding the rhetoric that lacks practical applications.
