The media circle of the Lebanese Forces party expressed surprise at reports that the Quintet is betting on Maronite leaders to achieve a presidential breakthrough, stating that "the bet should be on changing the stance of the resistance." In a statement, it read: "Some media outlets have presented reports of known sources claiming that the Quintet is relying on Maronite leaders to make a presidential breach, which is surprising and bewildering. If some of these outlets do not know what they are writing, that is a disaster; if they do know, the disaster is even greater, because the Quintet's bet should be on the resistance to achieve a presidential breach, as it is the resistance that is persistently obstructing the presidential elections. Meanwhile, most Maronite leaders, despite their disagreements, have not obstructed the election sessions, agreed on the concept of a third option, and converged on a third candidate, while those who have disrupted the quorum of all sessions are the resistance. Those attempting to impose their candidate are the resistance, those rejecting the third option are the resistance, and those insisting on their candidate despite their inability to elect him are the resistance. Those refusing the open session in consecutive rounds are the resistance, and those who bear the responsibility for the vacancy are the resistance." The media circle concluded: "From this standpoint, we are greatly astonished by the reports from known sources regarding the Quintet betting on Maronite leaders to create a presidential breach, while the bet should be on changing the stance of the resistance either by ceasing obstruction through participation in an open session across consecutive rounds, or by retracting their candidate and converging on the third option."
