According to the Xinhua News Agency, citing local authorities, there were no reports of injuries or building collapses as of 1 PM local time, and the areas surrounding the epicenter have low population density. The official agency stated that main electricity lines and distribution networks are operating normally, and local train services have not been affected. A previous earthquake of magnitude 7.1 struck the border area between Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang on January 23, resulting in the deaths of at least three people.
