Former Tunisian security official Hicham Meddeb announced his intention to run in the upcoming presidential elections. He added during the "Politica" program on "Jawhara FM" that he has extensive knowledge and experience in administrative and security matters, which he believes will greatly assist him in managing the state's affairs. Meddeb denied having any connection with the "Ennahda" movement or any other political party, stating that he is a "man of the nation," not a "man of politics." He continued that if he wins the presidential elections, he will not preserve the system of President Kais Saied or his organization of political life. He declared that during the first 100 days, he would dissolve the parliament, introduce some amendments to the 2014 constitution, and elect a group of judges to form the constitutional court. He also mentioned that he would release those detained for political reasons and repeal Decree No. 54.
