The Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naeem Qassem, stated that the party chose to support Minister Sleiman Frangieh for the presidency because he possesses "suitable and appropriate qualities" and is characterized by his ability to engage in dialogue with everyone and his openness to all. He emphasized that Frangieh "does not pose a challenge to anyone and communicates with countries in the region and the world in a natural manner, being courageous in his positions with a clear stance."
Qassem confirmed that his political team has not committed to any candidate during the ongoing discussions about the presidency, stating that they would always respond to inquiries about not clarifying their position by saying "we are still thinking." He criticized those who engage in criticism and theorizing while the country continues to deteriorate, noting that some speak to the public as if they have the right to hold everyone accountable while themselves holding no responsibility. He called for every MP to express what they want so people can positively understand each MP's options for saving the country, "to avoid remaining in the cycle of mourning over ruins or trying to absolve oneself by blaming others."
Qassem warned that stirring up sectarian sentiments complicates matters, and if anyone believes that their interest lies in inflaming sectarianism over every issue, they are mistaken since the damage will affect everyone without exception.
