According to the Xinhua News Agency, China launched a new remote sensing satellite today, Monday. The agency stated, "China today successfully launched the Siwei Gaojing 3-01 satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center located in the northern part of the country. The Long March-2D rocket carrying the satellite was launched at 12:12 PM Beijing time (07:12 AM Moscow time), and the satellite was successfully placed into the desired orbit." According to the agency, the new satellite will provide data used to enhance agriculture, create three-dimensional models of the Earth, assist in topographic surveys, mapping, and offer services for monitoring maritime navigation and natural disaster monitoring on Earth.
