Security Council to Vote on Palestine's Full Membership in the UN on Friday

Diplomats indicated that "the United Nations Security Council is scheduled to vote on Friday on Palestine's request for full membership in the United Nations, a move that is expected to be obstructed by the United States, an ally of Israel, as it would constitute a factual recognition of the existence of a Palestinian state." Diplomats mentioned that "the 15-member Security Council is set to hold the vote at 3 PM local time (1900 GMT) on Friday on a draft resolution that recommends the 193-member United Nations General Assembly grant the State of Palestine UN membership."
