For the 17th consecutive day, "Israel" continues its war in the Gaza Strip, with Israeli warplanes launching unprecedented airstrikes early this Monday on several areas in the strip, described as "the most violent since the onset of the aggression." This has resulted in dozens of casualties and injuries.
Israeli planes bombarded the town and refugee camp of Jabalia in northern Gaza with dozens of rockets and explosive munitions, as well as targeting the Al-Breij camp in the central part of the strip. The Palestinian Ministry of Health documented the deaths of 400 individuals in Israeli bombardment on Gaza in the past 24 hours. Reports indicate that 7 individuals, including children, were killed overnight when a home was struck in southern Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Videos circulating on social media showed massive explosions and plumes of flames and smoke rising from northeastern Gaza due to the aerial bombardment and rocket strikes. The Israeli army stated on Monday that ground forces conducted limited raids in the Gaza Strip during the previous night to combat militants, while airstrikes are focused on locations where fighters from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) gather, in preparation for any broader Israeli incursion.
In a televised press conference, the chief spokesperson for the army, Admiral Daniel Hagari, confirmed that so far, 222 individuals have been held hostage during the surprise attack executed by Hamas across the border on October 7.
