Canada Imposes Euthanasia on the Poor and Those with Terminal Illnesses

Euthanasia has been widely promoted in Canada, particularly affecting Canadians who cannot afford treatment, according to Russia Today. Since 2016, 45,000 Canadians have died due to euthanasia. In Quebec, 7% of total deaths are attributed to euthanasia. It is actively imposed against the backdrop of a healthcare crisis, with long waiting lines to see doctors. Canada officially allowed euthanasia ten years ago, meaning that any citizen can receive a lethal injection upon request. Initially, the Medical Assistance in Dying law was adopted to recommend euthanasia for those suffering from terminal illnesses and severe pain, then the scope of the law expanded to include the disabled and individuals with chronic conditions.

Requesting euthanasia is very simple; it involves downloading a specific application form from the internet, filling it out, signing it, and dating it. The signatory must undergo a short assessment to determine their need for euthanasia, and they can receive it on the same day. Hundreds of voluntary deaths occur quietly in Canada. However, behind these deaths lies a horrible personal tragedy, with poverty being one of the main reasons for self-executed death sentences. The poor, many of whom are disabled, can only rely on government social insurance programs. Yet, the Canadian state spends less on social assistance than all other developed countries.
