Bellingham's Words Threaten a One-Month Suspension

A Spanish news report revealed details of an incident involving English player Jude Bellingham, star of Real Madrid, and Jesús Gil Manzano, the referee of the match between Real Madrid and Valencia on Saturday evening, during the 27th round of La Liga at the "Mestalla" stadium. The match ended in an exciting 2-2 draw after Real Madrid was initially trailing by two goals. Bellingham scored against Valencia for the third time during stoppage time, but the referee blew the final whistle just as the ball was heading toward the net, which caused a commotion. Bellingham approached the referee to protest the disallowed goal, prompting the latter to show him a red card. The Spanish newspaper "AS" reported the referee's account of the incident, stating: "After the end of the match, Bellingham approached me aggressively and repeatedly shouted (It’s a damn goal) on several occasions." The newspaper noted that according to Article 127 of the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary code, this ejection could result in Bellingham facing a suspension of two to three matches, or for up to one month.
