American Activist Sean King Converts to Islam with His Wife on First Day of Ramadan

American activist and author Sean King and his wife announced their conversion to Islam today, coinciding with the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. King (45 years old) shared a video on social media, showing him and his wife reciting the shahada, as taught to them by a Muslim imam.

King stated in his post: "My wife and I just returned home after our evening prayer at our mosque in the Dallas area, where we together recited the shahada and converted to Islam to start Ramadan. It was a beautiful, powerful, and meaningful day for us, and we will never forget it." He added, "I will pray for you, and I ask you to continue praying for us. We will begin fasting this morning with over a billion Muslims around the world."

King has regularly written for "Daily Kos," "New York Daily News," and "The Young Turks," established several non-profit organizations, and is currently a prominent activist on social media and a leading voice supporting the Palestinian cause.
