Dr. Larisa Alexeyeva points out that "sleeping longer on weekends disrupts daily routine and may lead to future health problems." According to her, many people go to bed after midnight during the week and wake up relying on an alarm clock. This pattern repeats day after day, causing the individual to sleep late and wake up early, naturally leading to feelings of fatigue and exhaustion. When the weekend arrives, they try to compensate for the lack of sleep. She explains that this disrupts the sleep system and triggers psychological and physical issues. To make up for sleep deficiency, one should go to bed early rather than after midnight.
In an interview with the newspaper "Vechernaya Moskva," she states: "When a person tries to get enough sleep throughout the week, the following happens: they wake up late on the weekend, go to bed early in order to wake up early on the first day back to work, but they fail to do so. If this happens frequently, they will suffer from insomnia and some psychological problems due to the stress on the brain and the nervous system caused by sharp changes in wakefulness and rest."
The doctor recommends sleeping in suitable conditions because healthy sleep requires eliminating all factors that hinder good sleep: television, smartphones, computers, bright devices, and noise sources.
