A leader in the Coordination Framework, Ali Al-Fatlawi, identified the main reason behind Hezbollah Brigades' suspension of attacks on American targets. In a statement to "Baghdad Today," Al-Fatlawi said, "Iraq and the region are experiencing exceptional circumstances and major challenges due to the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the falling of tens of thousands of martyrs, wounded, and missing persons." He pointed out that "there are efforts in Baghdad to dismantle the crisis and its repercussions internally according to the axes of politics and resistance, which is why the government initiated the formation of a bilateral committee between Iraqi security forces and American forces to determine the mechanisms for withdrawal, thereby necessitating some time to proceed with it."
He added, "Hezbollah Brigades is the only faction of the resistance that has suspended its operations, possibly following a military tactical principle, while other factions have not expressed their views on the matter." Al-Fatlawi noted that "the U.S. had used the existence and operations of Hezbollah Brigades as a pretext to strike targets in Iraq, and if that were to happen again after the suspension, the latter would respond decisively on behalf of all Islamic resistance factions."
On Tuesday, Hezbollah Brigades announced that it had halted operations against American forces to "avoid embarrassing the Iraqi government," advising its fighters to adopt "temporary passive defense."
