Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated that "his country is the most affected by the crisis in Sudan," urging relief agencies and donor countries to "provide support to the countries hosting Sudanese refugees." Sisi made this remark during his speech via video at the African Peace and Security Council Summit convened to discuss the ongoing crisis in Sudan today, Saturday. He emphasized, "Egypt is the most affected by the crisis in Sudan and is the most keen to end it as quickly as possible."
He continued, "The humanitarian repercussions of the Sudanese crisis exceed state borders and affect neighboring countries, with whom close coordination is necessary," calling on "relief agencies and donor countries to provide the necessary support to neighboring countries so they can continue to assist Sudanese people." He stressed the importance of "continuing coordination with all partners and relief organizations to support efforts to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of Sudan to alleviate the deteriorating situation."
Regarding Egypt's efforts to resolve the crisis, Sisi said, "Egypt's efforts to end the crisis in Sudan complement the various relevant regional pathways, including the African Union and the Arab League." He noted that "Egyptian efforts are based on several determinants and constants, most notably the necessity of achieving a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in Sudan, and the importance of maintaining national institutions, which are the fundamental guarantee for the protection of the state."
The Egyptian President emphasized the utmost importance of close coordination between his country and neighboring countries to resolve the crisis and restore security and stability in Sudan, considering that "the conflict in Sudan concerns the Sudanese brothers, and our role as regional parties is to assist them in stopping it and achieving mutual agreement."
