The former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Eli Al-Ferzli, affirmed that "the natural course of upcoming developments regarding the presidency now shows promise. A true president is one who runs for election in the parliamentary council based on competition. It should be clear to everyone that a governor for the Central Bank of Lebanon cannot be appointed without first electing a president of the republic." After his meeting with House Speaker Nabih Berri at the presidential headquarters today, Al-Ferzli stated: "A president brought in through an agreement among political leaders is not a president for the state, but rather a president for the political leaders in the distribution of gains and the ongoing allocation. Hence, the ongoing conflict highlights that a true president is one who enters the parliamentary council and is elected based on competition, achieving the required quorum to become president. Only then does he become the president of the state and for the state, rather than just a president over the state."
Al-Ferzli added: "The reassuring matter that should instill confidence in all Lebanese is that regional developments, beginning with the agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, alongside the exceptional effort represented by the Arab summit organized by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the resumption of activities by the Syrian Arab Republic under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad in Arab joint work, should all address the actual challenges. This indicates the beginning of hope for rebuilding the homeland, the state, and the country."
Today, Nabih Berri also received Dr. Jan Al-Alia, the head of the Public Procurement Authority.
