Lakers Increase Detroit's Troubles in the NBA

D'Angelo Russell scored 35 points and provided nine assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a victory against their struggling hosts, the Detroit Pistons, with a score of 133-107 in the NBA last night. Anthony Davis contributed to the Lakers' win with 28 points and dominated with 16 rebounds, while his teammate LeBron James added 25 points, allowing the Lakers to bounce back from a crushing 44-point loss to Philadelphia last Monday.

This defeat deepened Detroit's troubles, marking their 15th consecutive loss, setting an unwanted record for the longest losing streak in a single season in their history. The Pistons had previously lost 14 consecutive games during the 1979-1980, 1993-1994, and 2021-2022 seasons. Cade Cunningham was Detroit's top scorer with 15 points, while his teammate Isaiah Livers added 14 points.

In another matchup, the Toronto Raptors defeated the Phoenix Suns at home 112-105, thanks to 23 points from Scottie Barnes, including 12 points in the final quarter. This loss ended Phoenix's seven-game winning streak, despite star Kevin Durant contributing 30 points in his return after missing two games due to swelling in his right foot.

In other games last night, the Los Angeles Clippers won against the Sacramento Kings 131-117, and the Orlando Magic defeated the Washington Wizards 139-120. The Denver Nuggets also triumphed over the Houston Rockets 134-124.
