Ismat Mansour, a close friend of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza, indicated that Sinwar did not anticipate that the attack on October 7 would have such "serious" consequences. He added that "Sinwar's calculations went off track and the response from the occupying state could not be controlled, and now we have this result." According to Mansour's statements, reported by "Sky News Arabia," Sinwar did not expect the operation to complicate matters to such a dangerous extent, which provided Israel with justification to violate all norms. He continued that "if Sinwar had known the outcome of the attack, he would never have planned an operation in this way."
Commenting on the video released by the Israeli army showing Sinwar with his family in a tunnel suspected to be under Khan Yunis, Mansour stated that the video is propaganda for them, adding, "The occupying army wants to say that they are tracking him down and trying to capture him." Mansour believes that his friend is still in Gaza and will not leave under any circumstances, stating, "If Sinwar leaves Gaza, he will lose his popularity and legitimacy as a leader."
