Chinese President to Putin: Achieving Close Strategic Coordination

Official media reported today, Thursday, that "Chinese President Xi Jinping informed his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that the two countries should strive for achieving close strategic coordination, and defend their sovereignty, security, and developmental interests." China Central Television stated that during a phone call with Putin, Xi said that both sides should firmly oppose external powers' interference in internal affairs. Xi was quoted saying that "Beijing and Moscow should also cultivate new momentum for cooperation and maintain stability in the industrial and supply chains." In turn, Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov said that "Putin and Xi rejected what they described as American interference in the affairs of other countries" during the call. He added that the leaders stated that their foreign policy would aim to create a "more just, multipolar world order," further noting that "there are no plans for mutual visits and personal meetings between them at this time." He continued, stating that "Putin and Xi also discussed the situation in Ukraine, the resolution of the conflict in the Middle East, and agreed to continue bilateral communications."
