The Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq issued various rulings in three provinces today, Wednesday, including a 15-year sentence for a convict who sold his daughter. The Council detailed that the "Saladin Criminal Court sentenced three convicts to three years in prison for the crime of deliberately damaging public funds." It explained that "the court issued its ruling against the former director of the Saladin Water Directorate and members of the direct implementation committee for the crime of deliberately damaging public funds by being negligent in executing the project for providing various capacities of river pumps and water wells for the Saladin Water Directorate, despite having received an advance payment of four billion and six hundred fifty million dinars."
The statement also noted that the "Anbar Criminal Court issued a death sentence by hanging for a criminal who attacked the house of an Iraqi police officer, resulting in the murder of his brother and injuring another." It highlighted that "the criminal is a member of the ISIS terrorist group and supports them with funds," indicating that "the ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 4/1 and in accordance with Article 2/1 of Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005."
In a related context, the statement mentioned that "the Rusafa Criminal Court sentenced a convict to 15 years in prison for the crime of selling his daughter for financial compensation." It continued that "the convict sold his seven-month-old daughter in Baghdad for an amount of $25,000."
