The Association of Families of Victims of the Beirut Port Explosion held their monthly vigil in front of the Expatriate Statue, marking 38 months since the explosion whose truth remains undisclosed. The statement issued during the vigil read: "To all who bet on our legitimate national cause and to the conspirators against the souls of our victims, we say: we will not rest until justice is served and all those involved in the crime of the century and the shedding of blood are held accountable. Today, we demand: the activation of the work of the investigating judge assigned, Habib Rizkallah, to commence an investigation with Judge Bitar. We also demand the formation of an indictment body as soon as possible to address the decision of Judge Habib Rizkallah. Additionally, we call for the removal of the national port case from the hands of politicians with specific agendas."
The statement continued: "We urge the swift resolution of abuses of rights claims and to find a legal and rapid solution for those who have been released by unauthorized authorities. We call for the acceptance of the judges tasked with forming the General Assembly of the Court of Cassation, and not to limit this to the original judges."
The statement concluded: "The current reality we live in under the oppressive authority and ruling powers controlling the state and judiciary is no longer bearable. It is unacceptable for the case of the port to be lost within the corridors of politicians who are used to obscuring the truth to avoid losing their positions. We will not allow anyone to tamper with the port case or tarnish the blood of our victims with their lies, tricks, and manipulation of the law. Everything has become exposed."
