Release of Two Kidnapped Individuals at the Lebanese-Syrian Border

The Army Command - Guidance Directorate issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "On January 22, 2024, a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate was able to free the citizen (L.A.) and her Syrian husband (M.H.) at the Lebanese-Syrian border, after they were kidnapped on January 16, 2024, by an organized gang involved in human trafficking. The gang had lured them from the Sabtieh area – Mount Lebanon to the border, misleading them into believing they would travel abroad via illegal routes, and threatened them with death while demanding a ransom for their release. An investigation has been initiated, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the members of the gang."
