In response to the Kahloun incident, the president of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, tweeted on "X" (formerly Twitter) that "the elbow of Kahloun" holds significant symbolic meaning in our collective conscience. He emphasized that what happened serves a greater purpose, as it shows that there are places, sites, and a people resilient against any offense. He pointed out the importance of resistance being embraced by the Lebanese people, without which it risks losing its immunity and strength.
Bassil added that it is not enough for there to be Shiite unity to safeguard its back; rather, national unity remains greater and more resilient. He continued, "This is a significant sign of the importance of a national defensive strategy that organizes the issue of arms, so that no one feels threatened by it in any area of Lebanon. The roads and communication within the country are much more important than the axes and crossing points outside. Believe me, this is for the sake of the country and for the martyrs. May God have mercy on the martyrs of yesterday, and Abu Youssef will always be with us. The elbow of Kahloun remains a symbol of resilience and endurance.”
