The Ukrainian army and regional governor Oleh Kiper reported on Friday that a Russian drone struck a commercial area in the city of Odesa on the Black Sea, resulting in the deaths of three people. The military stated that Russia launched 31 drones at Ukraine overnight, of which 23 were intercepted by air defenses. In a post on Telegram, the southern forces of the army indicated that they intercepted nine drones, but one of them hit an area near the port, causing a fire. Firefighters retrieved one body and there is a possibility that people are trapped under the rubble while emergency teams struggle to control the fire. The post mentioned that a security guard was rescued from one of the buildings unharmed. Governor Kiper reported on Telegram that the bodies of two other individuals were found under the debris. In total, three people died as a result of the enemy's attack. The military stated that Russia also used missiles in the attack but failed to hit any targets. Photos released by the army showed significant damage to buildings in the area and rescue teams making their way through the debris. The regional governor of Dnipro in central Ukraine mentioned that a Russian drone struck a multi-story residential building, injuring eight people. Serhiy Lysak, governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, wrote on Telegram that the search continued throughout the night and other residents might still be under the rubble. Reuters was unable to independently verify those reports.
