Video: Missile Attack Targets Ain al-Asad Base

The Islamic resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the missile attack on Ain al-Asad base in Anbar province, western Iraq. A source told Shafaq News that "several rockets fell in the vicinity of the base," and information suggests that the launch site was from the area of Al-Baghdadi. Iraqi media reported that "40 rockets were fired towards the Ain al-Asad base, which houses American forces."

In a statement, the Islamic resistance in Iraq said, "Continuing our approach to resist the American occupation forces in Iraq and the region, and in response to the massacres of the Zionist entity against our people in Gaza, the fighters of the Islamic resistance in Iraq attacked the occupied Ain al-Asad base in western Iraq with a missile barrage, affirming that the Islamic resistance continues to bombard the enemy's strongholds."

An American official, speaking on condition of anonymity, conveyed initial reports that a few American soldiers sustained minor injuries, while one member of the Iraqi security forces was seriously injured in the attack on the Iraqi Ain al-Asad airbase. The official added that initial reports also indicate the base was targeted with ballistic missiles, possibly other types of rockets, and that assessments are still ongoing.

Since the outbreak of the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement (Hamas), the U.S. military has been attacked at least 58 times in Iraq and 83 times in Syria by armed groups allied with Iran, typically involving a mix of rockets and explosive-laden drones. The militants aim for the United States to incur losses due to its support for Israel in the face of the Iranian-backed Hamas.

The United States has 900 troops in Syria and 2,500 in Iraq, tasked with advising and assisting local forces trying to prevent the return of ISIS, which captured large areas in both countries in 2014 before being defeated.
