The Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, received Prime Minister Najib Mikati today, Saturday, at Dar al-Fatwa. They held a private meeting before the Prime Minister joined the session of the Higher Islamic Sharia Council. The discussions covered "various issues on the Lebanese and Arab fronts, particularly the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza and southern Lebanon."
Prime Minister Mikati affirmed that "the government is engaged in communications and diplomatic and political efforts, both regionally and internationally, to stop the Israeli aggression on southern Lebanon and Gaza." He emphasized that "the government has an emergency plan to contain the repercussions of what may happen due to the ongoing aggression against our Palestinian brothers."
Mufti Daryan expressed his commitment to "supporting and assisting the government in its national work, despite the obstacles and challenges it faces due to the sequential crises in Lebanon." He praised the efforts, initiatives, and communications undertaken by Prime Minister Mikati in this regard. Daryan also expressed hope that "the pressures exerted on the Israeli enemy would succeed in stopping the crimes and collective punishment in Gaza, along with the continuing Israeli violations of Lebanese territory."
