White House: We Do Not See Indicators or Plans for an Invasion of Rafah in the Coming Days

White House spokesperson John Kirby stated today that he has "not been made aware of any changes in the plans for an Israeli delegation to visit Washington, despite media reports indicating that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled the visit due to Washington's abstention from voting on a Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza." He mentioned in a press briefing that "senior American officials will nonetheless hold separate talks with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant regarding hostages, humanitarian aid, and the protection of civilians in Rafah." Kirby emphasized that "there has been no change in American policy despite the decision to abstain from voting in the United Nations Security Council." In response to a question about reports of the cancellation of other Israeli visits, he said, "We were looking forward to discussing alternatives and options for a large ground attack because we do not believe that a ground attack in Rafah is the right course of action."
