The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Guidance issued the following statement: As part of the pursuits and security measures carried out by military units and the Intelligence Directorate in various regions on April 5, 2024, a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate intervened to resolve a conflict among several citizens in downtown Beirut, which included gunfire from a service pistol fired into the air. Three citizens were arrested for their involvement in the incident and for possessing sharp objects. Additionally, two military units arrested 14 citizens in the Bekaa region, as follows:
- Eleven citizens were arrested in the Jarmaisha - Farlous Plain area for being wanted for possessing service weapons and firing them. Military weapons, military equipment, and a quantity of ammunition were seized from them.
- Three citizens were arrested in the Qab Elias area following a conflict that involved gunfire and injuries among civilians, with a service pistol found in their possession.
The seized items were handed over, and an investigation with the detainees has commenced under the supervision of the relevant judiciary.
