The official spokesperson for Egyptian football club Zamalek, Ahmed Salem, confirmed that the team will be unable to register new players during the upcoming summer transfer window due to outstanding dues owed to Moroccan striker Khaled Bouhatib, a former player of the club. According to statements from the previous Zamalek management, Bouhatib ceased attending team training and refused to undergo knee surgery as recommended by the medical staff. As a result, the administration decided to terminate the Moroccan player's contract at the beginning of 2020, prompting him to file a complaint with FIFA to claim the remaining value of his contract in full.
Ahmed Salem stated in an exclusive interview with "Youm7" that the registration ban will be lifted in July or August, and there is still time to negotiate with Bouhatib and his lawyer regarding the settlement of dues and payment installments to reach a resolution. He added that FIFA has not directly communicated with Zamalek regarding the registration ban; this information was published on FIFA's official website. The dues owed to Khaled Bouhatib by Zamalek amount to 1.9 million euros.
