A tragedy struck a family in the Matariya area of Cairo, Egypt, on Monday evening, when a 9-year-old girl lost her life after mistakenly consuming gasoline, believing it to be soda. The incident began when the girl was brought to the hospital, where doctors suspected poisoning as the cause of death. Upon the police’s arrival to carry out investigations, it was revealed that the girl had inadvertently consumed gasoline, which was stored in a soda bottle inside her residence. She thought it was a cold drink, leading to severe illness, followed by her death after multiple episodes of vomiting.
The girl's family confirmed that she was playing in the entrance of the building when she found the bottle containing gasoline and drank it until her stomach was full. They were taken by surprise when she collapsed on the ground and were rushed to the hospital for treatment, but she died. They stated that they did not suspect any criminal involvement.
