North Korea Launches Hypersonic

The Korean Central News Agency reported today, Wednesday, that Pyongyang successfully conducted a test launch of a new hypersonic missile, marking the latest step in a plan described by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as "aimed at utilizing solid fuel to equip all missiles of various ranges." Despite sanctions imposed on it according to United Nations Security Council resolutions, North Korea continues to develop missiles and nuclear weapons, with analysts noting that solid-fuel missiles can be deployed more rapidly than those using liquid fuel.

The agency stated that the North Korean leader witnessed the launch of the "Hwasong-16B" missile and praised it as a strategic weapon demonstrating the "absolute superiority" of military technology in his country. It added, quoting Kim Jong Un, that North Korea has "completely transformed all tactical and strategic missiles of various ranges to operate on solid fuel, with the capability to control the warhead." The report indicated that this would give North Korea the ability to "strike any enemy target anywhere in the world quickly, accurately, and powerfully."
