The "17 October Revolution Groups" stated in a communiqué on the anniversary of October 17 that, "in light of the Gaza war and the martyrdom of children and innocents, as well as the disaster of demolishing an entire city and the displacement of Gazans and Southerners by the Zionist enemy, this day renews the launch of the October 17 Revolution in its fourth year. We gather in Martyrs Square, the square of revolution and freedom, to honor the heroic Palestinian people and offer our condolences for the martyrs of justice and honor. We bow to them for their extraordinary acts of heroism, dignity, and honor, confirming that our revolution is not only against corruption but also in defense of humanity. On this occasion, we propose to launch a campaign to collect clothes and other necessities for Gazans under the slogan 'Every Lebanese donates a piece of clothing or an item from their home to our brothers in Gaza' and to set up a tent here in Martyrs Square for this purpose."
The statement noted the beginning of organizing and establishing a "Leadership Council of the Revolution" made up of revolutionaries of land and thought. The "17 October Revolution Groups" demanded that "reformist MPs immediately resign from the corrupt system's council; otherwise, they will be expelled from any gathering or meeting of the revolutionaries." The statement also warned against infiltrators both internally and externally, particularly international and secret organizations that sow treachery among us and seek to undermine society and fragment families to control and steal the resources and wealth of the people and the homeland, whether by manipulating their chess pieces, be they corrupt politicians or clergy, spreading deviance, resettlement, and altering the Lebanese demographic, among others.
Furthermore, the statement addressed Syrian and Palestinian brothers, stating that international organizations help you stay in Lebanon not out of love for you or humanity, but to displace you from your beautiful homeland, using you as fuel for their sinister plans to undermine and fragment societies. It urged caution and an awareness that returning to one’s homeland is more important than a small handful of temporary money.
The statement concluded: "As darkness falls today, we will light candles in a vigil at Martyrs Square for the souls of the martyrs of Palestine, the Beirut explosion, and the revolution, and we will illuminate the words Palestine, Beirut, and revolution with light, hoping this light will illuminate the darkness in the hearts of the oppressors and the corrupt and serve as a spark of goodness and love to save the homeland."
