The Minister of Economy and Trade in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, confirmed that "in the next government session or the one following it, at the latest, the issue of improving salaries for public sector employees, military personnel, and retirees should be approved." Salam stated that today "the dish is ready," especially since the situation can no longer tolerate further delays, noting that there are two solutions that must be adopted.
Regarding the rising prices of goods due to increased shipping costs following events in the Red Sea and Gaza, Salam affirmed that the panic being caused among citizens is not accurate, as the price increases are minimal and do not significantly impact products. The Minister of Economy explained that the fear of price hikes is linked to traders exploiting these situations to raise prices indiscriminately, assuring that "we are always on the lookout for them, and hundreds of reports are issued by the ministry against such individuals weekly." Salam emphasized that the judiciary should impose the harshest penalties on offenders and that the Parliament should pass the consumer protection law, which has been finalized and will give us significant authority to increase fines and easily control all violators.
