Journalist Amal Zahid, along with her family, was martyred by shelling that targeted her home in Gaza City. With the martyrdom of Zahid early this Friday morning, the number of journalists martyred in the Gaza Strip since the onset of the ongoing Israeli aggression has reached 64. Yesterday, photographer Muhammad Ayash and several members of his family were also martyred as a result of an airstrike carried out by the occupation that targeted his home in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
Prior to that, occupation aircraft targeted journalists from Al-Mayadeen channel in southern Lebanon, including correspondent Farah Omar and photographer Rabi’ Maimari, in addition to Reuters photographer Issam Abdullah. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate had announced the martyrdom of 63 journalists since the beginning of the Israeli occupation's aggression on the Strip on October 7 of last month, while a total of 31 journalists have been detained since October 7, including 29 in the West Bank and 2 in Gaza. The fate of journalists Nidal Al-Wahidi and Haytham Abdul Wahed remains unknown since the aggression on Gaza began.
