Polish Prime Minister: Wagner Fighters Have Approached Our Borders

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Saturday that "a group of 100 fighters from the Russian private military group Wagner has approached the city of Hrodna in Belarus near the Polish border." Morawiecki stated at a press conference in Gliwice, western Poland: "The situation is becoming more dangerous. It is likely that Wagner members will disguise themselves as Belarusian border guards and will assist illegal migrants in entering Polish territory (and) destabilizing Poland." He added: "They are likely to attempt to enter Poland posing as illegal migrants, which poses additional threats." However, he did not disclose the source of his information regarding Wagner's movements. Anton Motulko, founder of the opposition project Hahon in Belarus, which monitors military activities in the country, told Reuters that his group has not seen any evidence of Wagner approaching Hrodna. Earlier this month, Poland began transferring more than 1,000 soldiers to its east due to growing concerns that the presence of Wagner fighters in Belarus might increase tensions at its borders.
