Emergency Landing of Egyptian Plane at Borg El Arab Airport

An EgyptAir Boeing 737-866 successfully returned to Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria safely, after initially heading to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to bring back pilgrims. However, it sent a distress signal with code 7700, indicating a severe technical malfunction on board. According to the Egyptian news site "Sada El-Balad," sources from the airline stated that the EgyptAir plane took off from Borg El Arab Airport without passengers, heading to Jeddah. A few minutes after takeoff, the pilot encountered a malfunction in the aircraft. The pilot immediately issued a distress call in accordance with international regulations and communicated with air traffic control, returning safely to Borg El Arab Airport without any damage to the aircraft or the crew. The sources mentioned that the Egyptian national airline arranged an alternative flight from Cairo International Airport to Jeddah to transport the passengers who were supposed to be brought back on the aircraft sent from Alexandria, which underwent a technical inspection to determine the cause of the malfunction.
