A Palestinian source in Ramallah revealed to "Sky News Arabia" on Tuesday that Qatar informed President Mahmoud Abbas of Hamas's approval to form a technocratic government tasked with reconstructing Gaza and restoring security after the war. According to the source, Hamas does not stipulate any names for the presidency of this government or any of its ministers.
Qatar also conveyed Hamas's initial acceptance to join the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), provided it is linked to a clear political horizon leading to a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.
These developments came after Abbas and several Palestinian officials returned from Doha early Tuesday morning following a three-day visit.
The source confirmed the agreement on an Arab principles paper led and monitored by Saudi Arabia, which has been authorized by the Palestinian and Arab sides to do so. The principles paper includes three points: First, an end to the war in Gaza and establishing a political horizon for a two-state solution. Second, the reconstruction of Gaza post-war through a technocratic government leading this phase. Third, monitoring the internal Palestinian situation and completing the reconciliation, alongside Hamas's entry into the PLO within a unified Palestinian-Arab vision.
