After the Escape of an Inmate from Al-Hariri Hospital... Information Branch Arrests Him and 4 Accomplices

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "In the early hours of May 8, 2023, the inmate charged with drug offenses, A. K. (born in 1983, Syrian), escaped from Al-Hariri Governmental Hospital to an unknown location. Immediately, the specialized units of the Information Branch within the Internal Security Forces initiated field and inquiry procedures to uncover the circumstances surrounding the escape, identify those involved, and locate the hiding place of the escaped inmate for arrest.

As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the branch managed to identify the individuals involved in facilitating the inmate's escape, which included: A. S. (born in 1995, Syrian), I. H. (born in 1984, Lebanese), M. M. (born in 1993, Syrian, wanted by the judiciary under a detention warrant for fraud), and A. A. (born in 1987, Lebanese).

Orders were issued to determine the hiding place of the escaped inmate and to arrest him along with all participants in the escape operation as swiftly as possible. On May 10 and 12, 2023, after careful surveillance, patrols from the branch located him hiding along with the fourth suspect (A. A.) inside a house in the town of Ketermaya - Chouf, where one of the patrols conducted a raid and arrested both of them.

Additionally, the branch executed several tightly coordinated ambushes, leading to the arrest of the first suspect in the Al-Jnah area while riding a blue motorcycle without plates (used in the escape), the second in Haret Naameh, and the third in Aramoun village. A search of them and the motorcycle discovered five mobile devices and cash amounts.

During the investigation, they confessed to the charges against them. The motorcycle was confiscated, and legal measures were taken, and they were referred to the appropriate authority based on judicial instructions."
