The head of the "Free Patriotic Movement," Deputy Gebran Bassil, stated that what occurred in the Al-Doura area is "serious and requires community awareness and firmness from state authorities." He pointed out via the "X" platform that this is a result of government inaction, international conspiracy, and the shortcomings of the concerned agencies. "Every faction that invests in and incites violence against displaced persons bears responsibility for the risk of dragging the country into security problems and events whose outcomes are uncertain," he emphasized.
Bassil stressed, "We reject violence against displaced persons, self-security, instigation, and incitement." He clarified that "the correct stance is to pressure international organizations to apply laws through ministries and municipalities, prevent new waves of displaced persons from entering, and for the army and security agencies to control the borders while activating all state institutions to ensure a swift return." He noted that through "populism and opportunism, we have reached this point, and the possibility to curb and address displacement has been lost since 2011. We will not accept repeating this experience and burdening our people with the consequences of their short-sightedness and lack of patriotism."
